Eastern Washington University Solar Sign Project Partnership with Jacobs Engineering and Sign Factory
Sign Factory awarded contract to complete fabrication based on designs from Jacobs
Kirkland, Wa (PRBuzz) September 23, 2010 — The project to install five solar powered monument signs at Eastern Washington University is the first collaboration between the Sign Factory and the international design firm Jacobs engineering. Jacobs has been working with the university on this ground breaking green project for more than a year and is now partnering with the Sign Factory to fulfill the vision for the finished product.
“This project is notable for the fact that we have worked hard with the university to design an LED lighting scheme to be green and sustainable by drawing less power and requiring less maintenance versus traditional signs running on a power grid,” said George Lim, National Creative Director, Environmental Graphics Group, Jacobs Engineering. “We look forward to continue to collaborate with the Sign Factory team to create which will likely be the greenest sign in Washington State.”
Jacob’s is an integral part of the original design, award, partnership and fabrication group leading the project. The completed sign is also expected to be so called carbon neutral in the sense that it will not increase the footprint typically associated with signs powered from the grid.
